Wardroom mystery door

In the wardroom opposite of where you enter room ( I believe it's facing the Bow ) there is this door ( pic ) and although you can see behind it through two slatted windows, one on either side, but you can not open it. Is this intentional or is it a bug and should open?

Its intentional. If you look carefully, it shows an image of what would be the cargo hold if your ship has one, just in strangely distorted perspective.
