who can beat my speed record of 45.3 knots in arcade mode? i did it with a pirate designed schooner MM at a windspeed of approx. 34 knots.

Yuke already beat you with his 74 knots [i think....it's 70 something] in the surprise!
though that might not count.....since it was modified......as soon as i get the game, i'll take the challenge.
 
lets introduce 2 different racing classes and some rules:
beta 8(or any version after, that didnt get changes to the sailing model), arcade and realistic class, no modifications in buildsettings.h to the sailing model, and im in <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

sounds good?
 
i did this with an unmodded ship from build 12.1. the record should be broken with an unmodded ship(except those in the original build, such as a fast schooner/war schooner/cutter etc.) later builds are of course also allowed. the record IS beatable this way, as i once encountered wind speeds of 40 knots. that's the maximum wind speed in the game.

those two different racing classes sound good. i will only compete in the arcade racing class. i will only try to make a record if i am at a point in the game where i have a fast ship, 'cos i do want to continue the game. if someone wants to dedicate an entire savegame on speed, that's your choice. good luck! (and don't crash, cos i did. immediatly sank while loosing all my masts i did!)

thats my entry. realisitic sailing mode, Stock Cutter, full hold(1 ton spare), navigator wirh sailing skills of 3 - no cheats. not bad <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

14.1 knots in an old wooden boat is imho pretty darn scary.
 
Lord Nelson: Are you one of our troops still working over on them far east over-sized beache? Just curious, if so, how much longer you out there?

Oh, and eventually I'll be up for this challenge, as long as there are set rules, modifying code is disallowed and I'll compete in any class, either game. **grins**

my last post where the rules. i set my speed record in a 3/4 full boat. wonder how fast it would go empty? it is allowed to put the food mod off to free up cargo space, as it doesn't change any stats. of course, you could also sell everything, try it out, and buy everything again.
 
may i remind you i already beatted my other record :p with 120 knots in a storm :p
 
@ Cap'n Drow: now i'm not one of the troops. i'm a Kuwaiti- British 15 year old eagerly awaiting PotC to arrive from the US. they stopped selling it over here about a month after it was released...

yeah...thanks. i find alot of people get surprised when they find out i'm not joking about Kuwait being my location...

as i've said several times before, i used to have the game. my baby bro got hold of it one day when i was at school and ruined it, about a year ago....i've been trying to get hold of it ever since.
knowing it's only a day away from my PC is making me increasingly excited....i wanna sail Kazeite's Pearl! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />
 
Yuke modified the ship. after i take a shot at the record, i'm gonna ask him if he could modify the Pearl to go that fast...yes i am that cruel on the high seas.....<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/jackhat.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":j2" border="0" alt="jackhat.gif" />....
 
ah, yes, but it would be fun to get an uber-ship as a reward for finishing the main quest. well, i'll have to wait as well for kazeite's black pearl, as it wont be added in buils 13 yet as it needs to be modified to be a challenge to fight against, but preventing it from becoming an uber-ship if you capture it.(yes you can, and i'm VERY pleased with that! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/jackhat.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":j2" border="0" alt="jackhat.gif" /> )
