Travel time measurement at sea?

And another thing, that has puzzled me for some time: when I use sail-to, I get a message about, how long time travelling the distance takes. But what does that travel time actually measure? Certainly not real life travel time. Is it the time, it takes to travel that distance in game with time x 1?

The time scale in the game isn't always quite accurate.
For Sail To, some time should pass.
Probably what it does is to take the distance to the target as the crow flies and divides that by the current or default speed for your ship.
