Town Capture

I'm having a little problem. I have finished the main quest and am now playing freely. Bored with just sinking the enemies of England, I decided to conquer a few islands for His Majesty, and perhaps keep a nice place for myself (not like he's not got enough islands that he'd miss one or two). I began by taking on the Froggys at Falaise de Fleur, quickly demolishing the fort with my MOW, whilst the rest of my fleet takes on the French fleet in the bay, before landing to finish them off. When I enter the town, the main building are desterted, but when I sail away the island still carries the French flag and when I go back it's back to normal and the fort attacks again. Is there something else I need to do or is this a bug?

Yep I know what u mean had the same problem. i even sacked falaise de fluer until the pop was only 2
Been hoping someone could shed some light on this problem. Hopefully the all knowing pieter will return and tell us wether it is possible or not. Maybe that is a small bug... Have u been successful in capturing other towns?

POTC isnt like Sea Dogs where you had certain quests where you could " Sack " a town or port & have your country's flag flying in place of the original flag.

In POTC when you sack a town/port your ship or ships are repaired, you received a certain amount of gold & trade goods as a bonus.

It isnt a bug or anything, it is simply POTC as it should be, it is the same in the original POTC ( Un-modded ) as it is in modded POTC.


In Sea Dogs there were quests where you could take other ports for the crown, also there was a certain mod where you could unlock Port Royale & run it as your own against all other countries & pirates.

So as far as POTC is concerned up until this moment, if you sack a town you will only received, gold, experience & trade goods for your troubles & have all the ships you used in the attack repaired.
 
It has always been that way, even in the stock game. It could and should however be changed. It is possible.

CouchcaptainCharles did code in an alternate way of capturing towns into the Post Build 12 mods: You can enter some forts from the land side (search around in the towns for the entrances) on, for example, Oxbay and Greenford and some of the new islands (not in all towns though). You have to fight a lot of enemies inside and you can encounter important persons there and, if you have luck, you will encounter a person who you can threaten to change the town's nationality.

You can't yet get the town for yourself, but it is possible to code that in. The main player already ahs his own nation in the game (NATHANIEL_NATION), so it can be done.
