Landlubber
The first mod is simply one to remove the "winged hourglass" insignia on your topsail. It might be different if they explained why that was your symbol, but they didn't, so I don't want it on my ships. The fpk file when placed in your Custom directory replaces it with a clean white sail with nothing on it.

The second mod adds an eyepatch over your right eye. The files are actually from Blagger's eye patch work, but I didn't care for the scar that came with it or the sideburns, so I removed them both and left only the eye patch. The fpk file when placed in your Custom directory will add an eye patch to you whether young, `middle-aged`, or old.

Also for good measure, in case you didn't read about it or pick it up from the original thread, I also have a flag pack which replaces all flags in the game with their historical equivalents. Also included in the latest revision is the ability for the player to also choose the French royal colors or the 1606 version of the British Union Jack. The readme explains in more detail.

The last mod changes your buckskin pants and boots to blue pants with red piping and your boots to black suede. The color is inspired by Han Solo's pants from Star Wars. The file is very large so this is a RAR instead of a ZIP. When the fpk file is put into your Custom directory it will replace all your pants and boots with the new color scheme. This will work in all cases, regardless of nationality, rank, which armor you wear (or don't wear), and so on. That's the reason for the size of the file, I had to make a custom dds file for each rank (nationalities for each rank), plus armor types for fencing and the like. The point is, it works in all cases. If you notice a place where you see the old pants or boots, let me know what nationality you were at the time, what rank, or if you were fencing what armor you had on, or if you were in prison, etc. and I'll make a correction.

Really love your flag pack. Been using it for awhile now. Not having the hourglass will definitely add to it. Definitely be giving the pants/boot mod a go. Gotta love that Han Solo look. Will let you know if there are problems. Keep up the good work!

Fab are you useing diffent nation hull colours? i noticed that a screenshot of one of your ships looked like a dutch one with that nations hull colours? is it possible too mod this into the game at all?.
 
That's standard I think. Dutch ships have orange trim, French blue, and so on. The French ship in the picture is not my ship, it's a French ship I was in battle with. That's why he still has the blue trim, but yes, you can mod that strip to be whatever color you want.

This file contains all the national colors (green, orange, white, red, yellow, and blue). Extract whichever you want into your Custom directory (only one at a time - don't install them all, pick one and install it). It will change the pennant and the gunwale to match the color chosen. To install another color, delete the first color and install the second. To get default pirate black back just delete the installed color.

Well, the pants/boot mod works beautifully so far, Fab. I loaded up a saved game where I had max rank in all the nations and just played back all the movies. Worked fine. Even showed up in my wedding movie as well as during dances. Every duel I've been in shows them as well. The only place they don't show up is during land battles and treasure hunting, but that's not a big problem.

Maybe try them one at a time and see if you can pinpoint which one is messing you up? I'm using all of them except for the eyepatch one and have had no problems.
 
Same Otaku,i did have one problem last nite when i went too upgrade a ship and the game crashed straight too desktop,i went back in and tried another port (a different upgrade) and it crashed again so i tried a new game (new character) and did'nt have a problem,i suspect that this is an ingame bug and nothing to do with the mods that fab has done sofar.
 
Well, I fixed up the flagpack to change the Spanish town flag from the one shown above to a white flag with a red barbed St. Anthony's cross. The readme has an update in it, with special thanks to Officerpuppy who convinced me that the one in the new flag pack is really the right one. The readme also has today's date at the bottom so you know you got the right one. It's ready for download now.

I also made a change to the blue pants file. There was one little bit of buckskin that I missed in the crotch. You only noticed it like in a fight when the guy jumped up at the end, and barely even then, but I like to do things right. So if you have noticed it and want that little bit colored blue as well, download the new bluepants file. It too has a readme with today's date so you'll know you got the right one. Also ready for immediate download.

Fab,

The winged hourglass was a common symbol on grave stones back then. The wings symbolized the fleeting speed of the sand draining from the hourglass, and by extension, how quickly one's life could be taken. As the traditional symbol of death, it was more commonly used than the skull n bones, especially on red flags which the French called <i>Jolie Rouge</i> which in turn ultimately evolved into Jolly Roger. To the victims of the pirates, the <i>Jolie Rouge</i> with the winged hourglass meant that the time to surrender was short and death was almost certain.

Just thought you'd like to know. Also, great work on your mods. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" /> I love the pants but is there any chance of making a dark version? The blue's a little bright on my rig.
