" border="0" alt="keith.gif" /> Finally a Big Battle came across a Dutch Fleet of four Three Deckers and four two decker 70 gun ships squaring up to a French BattleFleet of Five Three Deckers 100 gun ships and four Seventy gun two deckers . <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel_pa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ixi" border="0" alt="duel_pa.gif" /> The two fleets were in line astern with the Dutch having the weather gauge when i and my three one hundred gun ships came astern of the French line also like the Dutch holding the weather gauge there was still a considerable distance between the French and the Dutch fleets so my squadron opened the battle by firing at the rear of the French line .The french immediatley tried to swing round but of course bearing into the wind this took time for the front most ships to do and we managed to fire four or five full broadsides into the rearmost one hundred gunner and two seventy gun ships it was then the battle began in earnest , within a short while i had lost half my crew and in the ensuing melee as we came close in my rearmost ship was badly handled and came in for some devastating fire <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel_pa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ixi" border="0" alt="duel_pa.gif" /> . i had to order her to sail away. It wa at this critical stage the Dutch finally came into action overwhelming the van of the French fleet while i managed to even up the odds by sinking the two seventy gunners and pouring some more raking fire into the French manowar <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel_pa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ixi" border="0" alt="duel_pa.gif" /> . Suddenly the whole Battle was shrouded in mist and visbility was only a few yards but still deadly fire was pouring into the French ships till only two survived and they then faced the full weight of metal from all the Dutch ships and my remaining two ships <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
