How do i fire my cannons manually? i.e. Aim them???

If the game had actually come with a decent manual we might make a little fun of you, but you're not the first person to not know this. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" />

When you are at sea, hit tab and that will put you into first person sailing mode, from there you can go to any side of the ship, fore, aft, starboard, port, and you should see an aiming reticule floating off the side. You can just push the spacebar and shoot, which can be bad if you happen to be near a friendly vessel and hit them. They tend to get mad about that <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/urgh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":urgh" border="0" alt="urgh.gif" /> , and you can adjust your aim with the mouse.

If I remember right, and nobody has changed this..., <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> the sight is grey when you put it on neutral vessels, and green on friendly or allied vessels, and flashes red on an enemy vessel or an attacking fort. You have to compensate a bit for the rolling of the ship when you fire and depending on where you want to hit the enemy, the decks or the sails, I have found you have to aim a little high to get the cannon balls to land where you want them to.

Also: Using the left and right mouse buttons in 1st person sailing mode, you can walk around the deck, so you can move to the stern or bow of the ship for a better overview of the battlefield. Also nice: Press Ctrl to use your spyglass in 1st person sailing mod. Aim for another ship to see data about that ship.

Are you having any luck with this? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> I'm guessing that you're dealing with fighting the forts.

I remember that taking ages ... I also remember trying to do it with a single Xebec at first ... Figured I'd see how badly it was .... Yeah, that sucked. :p

The one thing I absolutely LOVE in this game is bulling your battleship right up next to another ship and BOOM! Things falling EVERYWHERE!!!!! MASS DESTRUCTION!!!! HAHAHAHA!!

I usually tried taking the fort with only one ship, because my escorts were usually smarter than I was.
