You are right, formations are non existent in PotC.

Don't count on it. I recall they said they wouldn't allow you to have more ships than 4, because else the game would become too much a tactical game. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

no way i heard really recently in Aop you could put your tactics level up and every 2 levels you can have a new ship in your fleet.
Thats cool.

if it effects the amount of ships you have it just might effect the possibility of them following you in line of battle formation.
