No, it's not compatible with Build 12. It's actually a stand alone game that uses much of the POTC graphics engine and resources. So the environment is the same, so too are many of the quests, but there's a whole lot more as well.... new quests, ships, items, weapons, RPG character developement, extra abilities, advanced health, bounties, build your own towns, an open non-linear world, etc.

I have two separate installations of POTC, one with Build 12 (and Post Build 12 Mod Pack) and the other with the Sea Legends Add On (SLiB).

I like each for their own unique and great qualities, however, I've been playing (SLiB) most recently as it is relatively bug free. I'm looking forward to getting back to Build 12 when the major bugs have been ironed out.

Just noticed this over at the Sea Legend Mod site. This was a response to much recent questioning and pressure to release the English translation.
