Well be carefull with the jokes. Usually French people doesn't care about it - or they pretend they don't - but it's a bit tiresome to see the British-written history everywhere. It sounds a lot like old propaganda.
Remember that the conflict between England and France was never solved, it still reappear from times to times. Of course I'm not talking about Jeanne d'Arc or medieval wars, but conflicts in economical theories : liberalism or colbertism, etc, conflicts in political theories as well, ethical issues : the status of being wealthy etc. A lot of thoses divergences appeared in the XVIII & XIX centuries. The economical developement of France was cut down under Louis XV pityfull reign, when France lost Canada and all its possession in the Indias. Later England became the great ennemy of the Revolution, and forced France to fight all over Europe - that was the Napoleonic wars, which France lost at the end. Revolutionnary ideas then died in Europe (well not in South America), and for some countries the death of old regimes took about a century or more - Austria, Spain... And Britain is still a kind of Constitutionnal Monarchy, with the Chamber of the Lords. Well, enough with that now, I think I've said enough.
You see, that's a big difference between PotC and Seadogs. In PotC even heavely modded there is still that kind of twisted vision in which the French are the 'bad ones' and the Englishmen the 'good guys'. In Seadogs you could serve any nation alike, there were just a few anti-spanish attitude in British ports but it was historical and comprehensive (after all Nicolas worked as a slave in a spanish island for a while). I'd enjoy to have more points of view in PotC : Spanish, Dutch, Portuguese, even American (Commodore John Paul John, where are you?...)
