we all know how cool storms are, especially when you have a ship that can handle it. tell us yer tales!
there are at least three things that happened to me in a strom, that a still find amazing, and at least to whatch.
1: frigates have the most awsome handling in a storm. they have the perfect shape to ride on a wave. with me, this once resulted in having the rudder lift clean out of the water! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />
2: waiting until the hour change in a storm is fun, as you can then enjoy the sight of the struggle of other ships form your wobbly deck. brigs really get thrashed by the storm, as it fits perfectly in the valleys and tops of the waves, making them go up and down a LOT. this resulted in something that was really amazing to whatch, especially because it was only at the most 100 yards away. every once in a while, the brig dropped in one of the valleys, leaving only the very top of the mast visible. (believe me, those where BIG waves.) then, as the next wave came rolling towards it, it seemed as if the ship would be completely swamped by it as it dissapeared out of sight. then, very suddenly, it came on top of the wave when pointing no less than 50 degrees down, lifting the stern in the air, and then sliding down again, afterwards repeating the process. it was truly awsome to watch. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />
3: this one was really scary. i was in a frigate, in the same storm that lifted my rudder out of the water, and when standing at the bow, once in a while, the bow would dip really deep into the sea. the worst wave resulted in the water rising up just below the railing! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />
you can get the best results by sailing with the wind, as your stern gets lifted up first, and you can't see the waves coming. sailing with the wind form the side will result in some SERIOUS tipping over, sometimes up to 45 degrees!
