Spaniards

I spend most of the game giving the Spaniards a good smacking. There are so many more of them so it makes sense.
Unfortunately, this means I can`t go after baddies who are in their thereStrongholds.
What I would like to know is, is there any way I can make them like me again, once I`ve got their backs up?
Also, my romance rating is 9/10. What am I doing wrong?
Help would be appreciated.

You can make the spaniards like you again if you go to a mission near to a Spanish town. They may offer to help you get an amnesty if you do a little chore for them. Another way would be to attack those that the Spanish consider their enemies.

If your romance is only 9/10 even after marrying, then you must have married and attractive daughter instead of a beautiful. There's nothing you can do about that after the fact, but I'd say that you should go for a beautiful one in your next game.

It does not matter anyways, because, as opposed to old Pirates! or Pirates! Gold, now the bad guy rove the seas themselves as well instead of staying in cities only. So you can capture them when they leave port - as a matter of fact, I never came across a bad guy on land so far.
The criminal hunting missions that you might get from a governor are different, those stay in cities all the time, but other than gold and gratitude, they don´t get you along in your life story.

There is another way - although you need to be on good terms with the Spanish (so you can get titles from them) at some point, most of the time (if you need to get into a port) you can either sneak or sack it.

Both work - sacking is great fun.

But, talk to the Jesuits. This is good advice both from an amnesty point of view and a theological one.
