Soldiers at Greenford

I destroyed the fort at Greenford, and then I sent the landing party to shore. Then, after a quick battle with some soldiers inside, the fight was over. OK, Then, the screen proceeds to let me know, I destroyed the fort, and all my ships were repaired. Then, the game sets me down onto a dock, and I have 8 soldiers charging at me. I cannot get into my small boat to reboard my ship. I have tried over and over to defeat them, yet I get killed with about 2 swipes of their swords. My "Health boost" won't work fast enough. I was finally able to run up to the town gates yet I cannot enter, as I suppose you have to defeat the gaurds first. I do not have great swords, as I never did find a blacksmith to sharpen them, or anything like that. At best, I have only killed maybe 3 gaurds before the rest just swoop down onto me.

HOW is the easiest way to defeat them? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> Which would be the best sword to use in attacks like this? (Probably a personal preference...) (I hate to ask this... but is there a cheat I can use to get by this part... just in case I get Irritated too much?)

Hire Fred Bob on the French Island, exchange swords,he has a Bosun's Choice,nice stats,make sure ye 'ave enuff skills on fencn perks,should help ye take out them out <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cheers.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="cheers.gif" />

Well... I finally eliminated all 8 soldiers. I did what you said, and I found another Mate to help me with my fight. I should have hired TWO captains to help me. (Little hint for you others that have a problem here). Anyway... I couldn't find Fred Bob, but I did manage to hire a good fencer. I also built my fencing skills higher and then I was up to 10. Didn't help much... as my defense was/is low. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel_pa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ixi" border="0" alt="duel_pa.gif" /> I do believe that battle with those 8 soldiers was harder than destroying the fort. Now.... on to the ships in the harbor... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
