I was playing through the first part of the main mission on my new game (I like to liberate Oxbay and then stop playing the quest) when I had the bright idea to hire an officer in Greenford, leave my Cutter 'Marksman' on shore leave, go into Oxbay, talk to the Frenchman, get his ship, and return to Greenford to sail away with no fight in my Cutter. This wasn't going to happen, so I had to leave out the front door in Oxbay. Luckily, the French fleet was preoccupied with a trio of British ships coming in and I was able to slip away relatively unharmed (unlike the last time I tried leaving Oxbay this way, where I lost all but my mizzenmast and 1 crewman) and get to Redmond -- but my ship wasn't with me! It was still berthed in Greenford! I had the 2,`000-some` gold pieces enough to buy a Tartana, thankfully, and sailed off to Greenford. On my way back into Greenford, I noticed the Fort was being attacked by a Lugger and -- get this -- another Tartana! Apparently, the Brits gave no consideration to the fact that my ship was in front of the pirates and blasted away at it, knocking my only mast down! Luckily, I drifted into the wake of the other Tartana and was able to board it. I `sail-to`'d to Greenford, docked, and sold the Tartana - for a 2,000 profit over the price of the original Tartana!
Thought it was an interesting story to tell. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />
