Selling ships or laying them up

Got build 11.
How do I sell a prize ship without losing my officer who is acting as the captain on that ship?
How do I lay a ship up? I did go through the dialogues by chatting with one of my officers, and the only option I have is to lay up my own ship. That leaves me without a ship and my officer on the other ship, unreachable. And when I leave the scene I get a CTD. I cant even get on the other ship either.

You have to remove your officer captain before sell the ship. You can do this with the menu F2 or in the shipyard, can't remember.
For lay up a ship i don't know sorry <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

Ok, I'll try the shipyard before I remove the captain. Normally when I remove the captain and then exit the menu the captainless ship sinks <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":c" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />

You should go to the shipyard to SELL the ship - or else, yes, the ship will sink unless you provide it with another captain.

Make sure you do not leave any other officers on the ships you sell, or you will lose them. You only retain the captain of the ship, but others will simply disappear...

Hahaha, yep... Except now with the mod I made, you don't have to do that. You can "fire" Danielle, or keep her on as an officer, if you keep her on, you can keep her immortal or make her mortal.

You also drop off Clement at his lighthouse home, and that's that...
