sacking towns stuck on 97%

I own the xbox version and I have written down all the towns and marked them off when I have sacked them and I Know I have sacked every town more then once and it keeps saying I have only sacked 97% of them.

I have noticed every time I sacked a town it gave me around 3%
and the only time It never gave me a % was when I sacked the town of petit goave where I got married.

I have a related question, also the XBox version: Does it change anything if you completely take over all of one nation's towns? I just sacked everything the Dutch owned and turned them over to the French... does this entirely remove the Dutch from the playing field? And what's gonna happen when I finally succeed in taking all the English and Spanish towns for the French too?

That nation is no longer on the map the only way to get that nation back in the game is to sack a town and put them back in it.

I see, interesting. Is there any kind of special prize in the game if I manage to convert every single town into one nation?

I dont think you get any special points for it, you mainly get points for completing quests and gaining land and money.

I have noticed that when you start the game over differnt periods you get differnt towns on the map.
Is that the reason I am stuck on 97%?

Do i have to start over and find the town in another erra to get 100%?

I couldn't say for sure but that makes sense. I've been playing a ROM of the '93 version for the Sega more often than the modern version but it's the exact same game, has different towns depending on the time period. So I guess you couldn't sack 100% of the towns in the game since they're not all in the same period.

I be sailing in the Xbox version of SMP. Haven't run into the 97% bug, but found a bug trying to take Port au Paix. I have attacked it repeatedly, but never get the screen allowing me to name a new governor. I have attacked it down to 20 soldiers and it doens't go any lower. I have run into the Trinidad bug, too. I have run into both bugs in the same game! Go figure!!!!!!!!
