i cant vouch for him.. i followed the walkthrough for him but it didnt work

i asked talked to him
i talked to the harbormaster... but when he says "if someone could vouch for him, there is no dialogue option for me, instead it just exits conversation. so i cant vouch for him..

how do i get him?

by the way, im finished with the main quest. does this have anything to do with it? thanks!

You need a high enough reputation. Neutral (bloke? matey?) or above.

bug prolly - rys is usually my first crewmember, i always take him at the start of the game (1st visit to redmond) and never had any problems. if u play core, well, try starting again - maybe reinstalling the game even? if u play on community build mod, try hitting mysterious 'i' button - it reinitializes lots of 'somethings', maybe it'll help ya <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

I can't imagine that finishing the main quest would effect that you can take Rys on as an officer. Not sure why this is not working for you - do you have the UbiSoft version of the game? We seem to be getting a lot of errors like this from people who have it...

i have a different prob with rys...He's one of my officers but i can't change his sailing stats, or a few of his other stats, which means i can't have him as a captain of one of my ships, cuz they are all zero. any ideas what is happening? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

Are you using Build 12?
If so then look in your:

POTC/Program/buildsettings.h file

under the MISCELLANEOUS SETTINGS section of that file, find the line:

ENABLE_SKILLUP_IFZERO 0
Change the zero to 1
