question about pyrite

I can't remember what happens when you fet enough pyrite crystals. If I remember right you need three of them and and you I think you're supposed to take them to some one I think but I can't remember. Can someone tell me what the pyrite is for again?

With three of them you, or any officer you give them to, gains one skill point in cannon reload.
