Quest 11 Continue searching for Rehims - Help needed

Hengist

Landlubber
I meet Danielle on Lighthouse Beach, and she tells me we have to sail to Douwesen, but then she says something about my crew being to large and I have to put some ashore. At this point I go ehh? (In a... 'how the hell do I do that' kinda way), decide to ignore putting my crew ashore and I set sail to Douwesen.

Nothing happens when I get too Douwesen, so I go back to where I last saw Danielle at the Lighthouse beach and she's still standing there.

What am I supposed to do?

The Walkthrough says the following, and doesn't mention anything about putting my crew ashore because I have too many...
<b>Quest 11 Continue searching for Rehims

Go back to Lighthouse to meet with Denial. And off they sail to the sea. You
will have to sail to Donuwesan and dock at the port. As soon as you arrive,
Denial will tell you that Vincent has already gone to Tavern. Go to the Tavern
and you will meet with Vincent. He will tell you that the guy who is sitting
near the entrance of Tavern is Rehims. When you talk to Rehims, he is first
surprised and then later he will tell you to go to his house which is outskirt
of the town. As soon as you, Denial and Rehims get out of the town, three
cutthroats will rush to attack you. You will be stayed behind in order to escape
Danielle and Rehims. She will tell you the way to Rehims's house. Fight with
thugs and just continue walking straight. You will be at the first intersection.
Keep walking and you will see another intersection. Turn left to get to Rehims
house. Upon arriving you will be surprised to see that Rehims is dying. Danielle
now realizes that you work for English and she will draw her sword. Before you
can do anything, the crazy girl will stab you and you will fall and pass out.
You will hear what Rehims and Danielle are talking. It seems that you are stuck
in some kind of conspiracy of English Governor. And Danielle is looking for the
same things that Governor Silehard is after. Your quest is updated and now ready
to find Danielle. </b>

Hengist,

Check how many officers you have assigned and how many ships you have; Danielle takes up an officer slot and she has her own ship. I think if you get rid of your officers and sell any extra ships you have, then Danielle will talk to you and the quest can proceed, but you may have to go back to a previous save game, I don't recall offhand whether having gotten rid of the officers and freed up a ship slot will let you go forward or not.

Good luck! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Hi mate,

Besides my own BattleShip, I have a Warship and a Lineship, each with 1 officer acting as Captain. I also have an extra officer with me for capturing purposes.

I'll try to sell the other ships off, but if this doesn't work (and I've since saved over the previous saved game slot), does this mean that I now can't complete the game, as this appears to be part of the main quest?

I don't think I can be bothered to restart from the beggining <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

Hengist,

I took a look thru POTC Gameplay and the POTC Tips and Tricks forums, and from what I have seen the recommendation is to go to a previous save game, get rid of the ships and officers, and then try Danielle again.

I think this pitfall has been with us since the game was originally released, it 's not a build bug, but it might be worth taking a look at the coding to see if we can't find a way to fix this. (There are quests that the modders around here have set up that avoid this problem and have saved players a lot of frustration.)

If it is any comfort to you, I have had to start the game over many times, and from later points in the Main Quest than where you are now. This is the original game that I'm talking about, since I installed Build 11 I haven't had to start a new game unless I wanted to. Let me know if selling the ships and clearing the officers works for you, but I don't think it will. I have seen other members ask if anyone can email a saved game, from various points in the game, and maybe someone has a saved game from this point and they can help you out.

One more thing, are you playing the original game or one of the builds? If you are not playing with Build 11, you might want to consider loading it if you have to start a new game. Good Luck! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Hi Chris,

I've only ever played Potc with `Build-11`.

As well as these ships, I also have around 6 million deposited and gaining interest with a loan shark. It took me many hours off trading and piracy to gain all that, and I really don't want to have to do it all again.

If selling the ships, and officers doesn't work (actually it's quite annoying having to do this anyway) I guess that this means end of game for me now, no more Pirating, which is sad because I was really enjoying the game up until this point. Also it sounds like it could happen again later on, based on posts I've read on this forum

I have plenty of similar games that i can turn to, that actually work and do what they are supposed to lol... `X2-The` Threat springs to mind or Morrowind+expansions. It's just that I love looking at those cool ships in Potc.

Bye bye pirate world, it was nice while it lasted...sniff <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

P.S. Thanks for taking the time and trouble to reply to me however.

Hengist,

I hear you, there's a lot of discontent about the POTC we got when so many of us had waited so long for Sea Dogs II to appear. The only other thought that occurs to me is the number of people around here who play the game without actually playing the main quest at all.

Don't give up the ship too soon, someone else may show up and be able to help you out, it seems to me like the site has been a little slow lately, but with all of the new pirating games forthcoming, it may not be too long before you can hoist sail again. (Hopefully with a better thought thru and complete game. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> )

One last thing, there's an older game called Redguard that I played, and thanks to the guys here I was able to set it up so I can play it on my newer computer. The only thing I do with the game now is running aound the island that is the game's setting and pick swordfights with the inhabitants, and with POTC you can basically do the same thing. After a year of playing with the game I still spend a lot of time taking my frigate out and looking for a fleet to take on to see if I can survive the encounter. Just a thought...

I think the thing to do is edit the quest logbook so that when you read it you will be given the big hint to be sure to have a spot open for Danielle before you go to meet her.

And Hengist, DON'T GIVE UP!!!

Wasn't the game fun when you were building up your fortune? Did it take long? It won't take as long, now that you know what you need to do... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

You're all quite correct.

Reading back my earlier post it kinda sounds like... "Waaah, I'm not gonna play anymore and I'm also gonna take my ball home" lol <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I finished teaching early yesterday and was home by 4:30pm. Guess what? I restarted, but this time I also cranked up the difficulty lev. By 2.00am I had my character at lev15 with around 50% of skills maxed at lev 10, 3 million in cash, a Frigate and a Corvette.

This game is just to addictive to let go of <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Yarrr!!! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Sorry about my not getting to this sooner.
Yeah, probably should fix the damn bug. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
But in the mean time, if you run into that problem again or want the old one fixed, send me your save (zip first please) and the thread link and I'll see what I can do.

Thanks Nathan,

That's a generous offer.

I actually did the Danny mission again last night, after my restart, with the same number of crew, officers and ships. This time there was no mention of having to put my crew ashore and the quest ran perfectly.

Lol, don't you just love consistent bugs <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

On another note I did seem to get into an endless For/Next loop with Artois the navigator. I'd get the Silver from the waterfall and when I headed back to the town, there he was introducing himself again and again, unfortuantely the silver didn't respawn. In the end I shot him myself to get out of the loop, that seemed to do the job. lol

<snicker> I did that to Nigel after I fired him and he wouldn't go away, but he kept coming back! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
