press gangs

in real life it sometimes could be quite hard to find enough crew to fully man the ships. So sometimes press gangs were used to force people to take hire on a ship.
would it be possible to introduce press gangs in the game??
so in case therearent enough volentering crew available in the tavern you can get 50% extra crew, at the cost of a very poor morale and a lose of reputation??

sounds good but prbbaly ahrd to code although im not an authority on the subject so dont listen to anything i say. :woot

Interesting thought... Tho I usually just go through the "stay at the tavern" routine until I've got enough men hired. That can be tedious, but at least you don't have to go up to the room. You can stay in the tavern, not pay the 5 gold, and the next day more crew will spawn.

I don't usually have trouble hiring. The taverns always seem to have more than enough crew to hire.

Hey some people you met sometimes say He wanted to be a crew to your ship but your only reply is "no i dont need fresh sailors" xD: can someone put a reply to that?

It's not a `one-night`-only thing. Wait a week on ship on the world map, and the town should have near normal number of crew.

Yes, difficulty affects number of crew available.
As does how happy your crew was with the last division of plunder (if you play with articles).

And, last but _certainly_ not least, the number of crew available is dependent on your fame.

Well, that's _your_ factors, I mean.
The main external ones are town size (crew is proportional to town size), and if it's a pirate town (x2 crew).

Note that crew, like goods, gold, and town population, will gradually "normalize" over time to meet the other factors. I.e. if you've hired away all the crew then more will gradually become available and then hit equilibrium (as defined in towntables.c); conversely if you _fire_ crew, the crew available will _decrease_ over time until it gets back in normal range.

And if town pop increases, so will crew.

Oh, and crew from pirate towns have higher base morale.

If you want to find out the size of a town, ask a citizen "about the colony". If that option's not available, exit dialog and try again.

It might be possible to do press gang in the encounter officer dialog.
There are a few problems with this:
1. You might only be able to add press ganged crew to your flagship.
2. Sorting out how many crew you can press gang so that you don't have too many people on board. The easiest way around this would be find the current crew number and change it to match the max crew that your ship can carry.
3. Sorting it so that you can't press gang more then once per day or more then once per visit to an island.
4. Disable this in pirate settlements that I think press ganging pirates would not be a good idea to your general health.

Sorting out a rep hit would be fairly easy to do, but I think that press ganging crew should also result in a loss of morale of the cre and an increased chance of a mutiny
Also it should make the nation that you're press ganging from more hostile to you as you are taking away their citizens.

so i guess that it is possible to some extend??

one thing i havent figured out yet.... is mutiny possible in the game??

I think it is possible but there could be some problems sortiing out the code.

I'm sure that mutiny is possible as one of the movies that came with the game is played when the crew mutinies. I've never had it happen myself as I'm more or less a "good" pirate.
