Last night when sailing along in world view I noticed the text on the left side that gives updates for food and such was missing. It is helpful to know when to buy food and rum to prevent mutiny and starvation. Is there some way to bring this text messages back?
Other messages such and wind and objects drifting at sea still show up. At the "land ho!" message nothing appears.

I started this game at shwashbuckler level. Would that have something to do with it?

Press the [L] button on the keyboard and see if it says "Various logs on" then.
If it does, the messages should've come back.
