new idea for the maltese abbey gosts

i've come up with an idea: what if you would have gosts in the maltese abbey that would be totally or almost invisible but would have swords? it would be like fighting a flying sword! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" /> it hink that would be great. i think it would totally freak people out the first time. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> i know i would, even though i already know about it.

I would personally vote for not putting this into the Maltese Knight Abbey, but putting it in a new location to explore instead. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

i always thought that the maltese abbey ghosts never really looked like ghosts, but another location would be fun as well. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

Well, CAN someone make characters with transparent skins? I can't <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />:

But if someone makes such characters I'll place them wherever you want: Abbey, dungeons, jungles at night...

oh. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" /> anyone?

bugger. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="<_<" border="0" alt="dry.gif" />

I believe it is the "material" used for the model that prevents transparency.

Window panes use Lambert2SG.
With an alpha channel in the window.tga at 95%, the window is 95% clear.

Blaze uses "glaza_body_SG".
With an alpha channel in the blaze.tga at 95%, he is 95% black.

I'm guessing that the materials are in dll files, so we can't do anything with them.

what i don't understand is: how did you make those invisible people that function as the locators for the jungle?
i discovered them in a rather funny way: i was throwing a grenade at a pirate, which turned out to be standing right next to the locator guy. i was pretty surprised when the jungle collapsed because i threw a grenade! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/8q.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":8q" border="0" alt="8q.gif" />

i can attack them. they even have HP. the HP texts appear in mid-air. i don't remember that happening with lizards. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

My guess is that they are "Building Characters" given the lizard.gm model body to make them inconspicuous.

pity. oh well.

ever tried equipping a jungle? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

I think I remember trying something like transparent skins, to just make someone look like he lost a leg or arm. I don't remember succeeding. HOWEVER, serendipitously I found out how to make a floating head or headless body with Inez' tool. I don't remember how I did that, and it was with a real old version of the tool, just swapping heads... They do function perfectly as in-game characters, if I remember, I could just never decide what to do with my accidental discovery.

ALAN! Nice seeing you again! I hope you'll stay for a bit. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

If you can re-figure out how to make headless characters, it might be funny to add a haunted mansion. Oh wait; you were already working on one once, weren't you? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

YAY! any chance of flaoting swords now? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />
