new game cant leave port

Hi, Just starting playing mod 13, How can I escape from port? Every time I enter the ship the oxbay port guns and ships in port keep killing me. Is this a bug?

How can I change my relations with oxbay? from a new game im netural but as soon as i enter my ship and try and leave port I am hostile to oxbay

As soon as you leave Oxbay port, the French have taken control of the fort. By default, you have an English flag raised and the French will sink all enemies trying to leave port. So you have to fool them into thinking you are no enemy. Yo do this by pressing F2 and going into the Relations screen. The raise French or Portuguese colours. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />
