I mean I worked hard to get the money to buy new ships, but if it get divided to the crew, how do I buy that new ship I need. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />
 
the loanshark? your ship's chest? i don't really know, i never sign articles.
 
So by putting the money in my ships chest, the crew will not get whats in the chest? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" />
 
i'm not enterely sure. if it's not added to the crew money in the character menu, it shouldn't be used while deviding the plunder.
 
Putting it in the ship chest will probably work. Also: After deviding the plunder, there should be some money left to start the new expedition with.
 
not nearly enough to buy a ship. only 20000. what i'd do, is to first buy a ship, then devide the plunder.

Doesn't the money that you keep after deviding the plunder depends on how much money there is to devide? Isn't it a set percentage, rather than a set value?
 
i thought that there was a percentage, but up to a maximum amount of 20000 gold.
 
Money that you've put n the ship chest or deposited at a loanshark or even given to an officer to hold is not counted when dividing the plunder. As far as I know, there's no upper limit to your starting capital for the next expedition. I normally don't divide the loot until I have over a million anyway.

Edit to add: For what it's worth, you get a portion of the divided loot yourself. This personal money will raise your reputation. You also use personal money to raise your hit points at the apothecary.

well, it's unlikely to increase much more now as those treasure cgests are suffering from the infamous chest bug. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> but it should keep me going for a while. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />

I've stored about 200.000 at every loanshark. So when dividing the plunder there is always enough money I could use in emergency cases.

I think it is not a good idea to save too much money from the dividing plunder amount. The lesser money you divide and the longer you were out threre, the more dissapointed the crew will be.
If you have a large crew about 1000+ and you make them outrageous by dividing a tiny sum you might get problems hiring a new large crew.

I like dividing the plunder. You can raise huge amounts of money in a very short time in that build. Unless spending for reputation you just don't need the millions. I've set the crew money multi to 5 and I'm still getting rich too fast therefore IO switched to dividing plunder mode.

anyway, the chest bug is a bug where every chest is considered a ship chest, causing it to be empty the next time you open it.

Reputation may be increased by giving to the church, but it's expensive.
