Mephisto Quest

mortanius

Landlubber
Greets,

After a forum search I found reference to a special corvette called Mephisto however, further searching for how to obtain said ship only gave reference to doing a quest but not what or where the actual quest is. Could any of you tell me the when, where and how to get this ship to spawn so I can capture it?

Thanks in advance

You can only use her by capture her at the end of the
Mefisto Quest..........or cheating! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

it's a frigate by the way. and i believe that the animists where changed into satanists. at least, that's what they're being referred as.

Start by going to Douwesen, where you'll find a women's protest group outside the governor's residence because he won't help them. Talk to them and offer to be a hero...

Apart from helping damsels in distress, the other requirement for a hero is a good reputation. If you don't have one, a few donations to the church will help. And being a hero, you will of course visit church regularly anyway - especially the one on Redmond...

This is a long quest. The Mefisto is a big prize and you'll have to earn it!

in fact, it's more of a second, but buggy, main quest. read the dialogue and quest book CAREFULLY.

Greets,

After a lot of running around between this quest and the main quest I managed to capture both the Pearl and the devil ship. Its a great looking ship, stats are not as good as the pearl's but it is very nice looking.

I have another question which totally unrelated and may seem strange but what is the trick to actually joining the pirates? I read speaking to the boss on QC will do it but there is never any dialog other than "..." My relations with them are horrible right now from doing the two quests and nothing I do seems to improve my relations with the pirates.

Thanks again

well, for the moment, it's just to place the player in front of a massive challenge, trying to survive in an almost all-hostile world. it get's even worse with bad reputation. kinda funny being a pirate that was considered a hero. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />

of course there is. when you join the pirates, you do just that. it's a simple matter of hoisting the jolly roger in battle to make them like you.

That much I know but what about how they feel against the character? Right now they are -60 hostile. Is there anyway to make that number positive? Like I can go to any of the other countries, buy a letter and then sink their enemy ships to gain positive reputation with the country I have the letter with.

There are two other things which I am not sure are bugs or not but;

1) The pirate boss on QC don't speak to me at all i.e. no interation of any kind, its like hes there but hes not really there.

2) No matter how many ships I sink or capture, no matter what class they are, I am still an Unknown Freebooter which is very strange as before I even started doing the main quest I managed to get to Cutthroat using the starting ship but now I seem to be locked at the lowestest "known as"

I'm using build 13 + Update 3 full
Have finished the main story, the strange things story and a smaller one regarding a kidnapped daughter which rewarded a crappy sword but can't remember the quest name.

as i said, hoist the jolly roger in battle. they'd become neutral straight away. you need to select 'hoist flag' in the actions menu while at sea. i would recommend not being near a fort though, or next to a manowar. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

How well-known you are depends mostly on your wealth. Your wealth increases by land owned or by deviding the punder. If you're paying regular salary and don't join a navy, your wealth hardly increases and so you won't get very well-known. The pirate leader will talk to you when your fame is high enough.

The sword is Nicholas Sharp's saber and the quest is Save Toff Oreman's daughter. It's a pretty good sword early in the game, but later in the game it's pretty useless.

<b>morgan terror,</b>

I always have the jolly roger flying except in the rare occasion I need to dock at a none pirate port and am still -60 with the pirates even after hours of piracy.

With Jolly Roger:
Pirate's attitude towards character: Hostile (-60)
Relation based on flag: Friendly

With character's personal flag:
Pirate's attitude towards character: Hostile (-60)
Relation based on flag: Hostile

How do I change the pirates attitude to the main character from hostile to friendly under both flags? Maybe having a letter or marque with Britain is interfering with my pirate reputation even though I never sail under British colors?

<b>Pieter Boelen,</b>

If the main attribute is wealth then I must be doing something wrong somewhere. I don't have much land but have a good amount of coin, much more than one would think to just be known as an unknown freebooter.

Land: 2.400
Personal Wealth: 553,872
Crew Money: 2,768,315

If ships are a factor;

Ship of the Line (berthed)
Black Pearl (berthed)
Mephits
Super Frigate

If levels are a factor;
Main Character: 40
Active first mate: 45
Active Bosun: 41
Active Quartermaster: 43

The officers of my second ship are all in the mid 30s and most of the inactive are in the early 30s.

I just recently signed articles as paying monthly was more manageable during the main/devil quest due to all the running around and limited fighting. I have spent millions on testing different ships and about the same at church as it seems no matter what I do I always drop from Hero to Terror in a short time which is strange as I normally let all merchant ships go after I loot them and lock military officers in the brig. I very seldom kill anyone in cold blood and I have never attacked a ship that has struck it's colors.

On the matter of prisoners. I have two that been on my ship for ages now and are listed at over 500,000 each but when I speak to them the most they offer to pay is around 3,000. Is there any way to get the whole 500,000 or is it restricted by what they offer?

hoisting the jolly roger is not the same as hoisting the pirate flag. hoisting the pirate flag can be done in the actions menu, hoisting the jolly roger can be done in the relations menu.

what you're saying is possible though. is your rank with britain very high? if it is, they'll nearly always recognise you.

I have used both flags and am always under the pirate flag on and off the map. I also manged to get to well known pirate but the pirate boss on QC is still not saying anything, not even a text gump or anything. I have no rank with anyone, I was commander with Britian but I lost it some how. Every nation is hostile with me which I am fine with but I would like to make the pirates green instead of grey....

I am going to start a new game just to see if the thing with the pirate boss on QC is a bug from doing the main quests or what.

well, i would like more interaction with the pirates as well, but it's just not possible at the moment. although it is possible to hire one of two mercenaries when you're a pirate. or both.

I started a new game and went directly to the QC pirate boss. Not only did the interaction gump come up but he also invited me to join the pirates so it is apparent that somehow the boss got bugged in my main game. The strange thing is even after I became a pirate they where still -60 hostile while all other nations got set to -45 after.

The game is fun but much like AoP, it should be named Privateers of the Caribbean rather than pirates but at least this game don't crash or cause the RAM to beep every 10 seconds which just should not be posible on a $7,000 XPS. It also seems that the only way to gain positive relations with nations is by directly sinking enemy ships in ship to ship combat as I never gain any from boarding, captured or surrendered ships.
