There I was with oodles of money and loads of goodies - Just had to rescue the beautiful daughter of the governor of Tortuga for a happy future and they made me retire!!!
Is it possible to prolong life in this game?
Personally, I think 40 is too early to retire.
There was many a good fight left in me.
I`m going to try a lower level next time.
Do you get higher rewards for the top levels?
I played one down from the top and finished as a Fencing Master.
I think a good mod would be the option to hang lazy slobs who want to divide the plunder!

It is possible to keep going indefinitely, but you have to not divide the plunder. The magic number is 1000 gold per man - they might get angry, but they won't mutiny.

I find about 2000 gold per man allows you to sail around a lot with a crew that is just unhappy, and about 3000 will keep them content.

Everyone seems to hit the "poor" or "failing" health by 40 - which is accurate, really.

Take skill at Medicine (or Navigation, which decreases the wasted time and allows you to catch people quicker!) and buy the medical items. And try to avoid sword fights if you can.

Thanks for that. I`m doing better this time, with no grumbling about dividing the plunder.
I still think it would be nice to have the option of hanging a few of the lazy slobs!
