I have too many crew, what do I do?

Hi all, new here.

I've been told by the woman you meet at the lighthouse when looking for Rheims that I have too many crew and I need to leave some behind before she can join me. What does this mean? I've tried sacking officers, reducing crew levels but nothing seems to work.

Help!
 
Danielle? what she means is that you have too many officers. The only thing I can think of is sacking more, get her, then later get Clement. How many officers did you fire?
 
I could only get 1 to come out with me. The others are captaining my other ships. I'm truly stuck <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> If I sack the others, I lose my ships.

You have to leave a officer spot for Danielle before she joins you. Just remove your officer(s) not captaining ships to the passenger list. That way you will have two slots open for additional officers after Danielle joins you and you don't have to fire any officers. Most of the time I go alone and do not take any of my officers with me. Hope this helps.
 
Thanks. In the end I just sacked everybody that wasn't captaining my ship and she came with me lol.

One thing to be careful of is to always leave an extra space for the people you rescue and hire eg. Lucas da Sahalanda and Artois, otherwise they dont come with you as officers and just follow you in the area that they say that they wanted to come with you.
 
Most quest officers have their own slot they want. So, if Danielle wants slot 2, and somebody else is occupying slot 2, then you will have to move that officer to another slot for Danielle to join you. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

That's a build fix IIRC--force set slot 2 rather than fail if no free slots.

In the case of Danielle, IIRC she means comp slot, not officer slot.
 
Sorry.
What I mean is, in stock POTC, she is added as an officer/comp in slot -1, i.e. any free slot.
The problem with that, is that if there are no free slots, the adding will fail, and Akella did not write a way to handle her failing to be added.
So I changed it to a fixed slot--2--and that means whoever's in slot 2 will be replaced with her, the adding /can't/ fail.
Of course a better fix would be to handle your not having a slot free; but this works too, and was easiest.

The other part, was that IIRC she is set as companion, not officer, and thus the free slot she needs is a free companion slot, not officer slot. But I may /not/ be R-ing C.
