I just got the game, and was playing it last night. Anyway, the thing is, i can steer fine in Sea mode and stuff, but whenever i check on the map, i seem to be right on the same spot, just outside of Oxbay, after about 3 hours of sailing. I don't seem to be moving on the map, though the other ships seem to be cruising by in what i expect would be the normal speed. I can't steer from the map either. All i see are ships coming to me and attacking me, so i go, ho humm, okay, let's do battle, and after that i correct my direction. And after a while i check the map, and i'm still right there. Is this normal?

Second question is... i was looking at the threads while trying to see if anyone else had this problem, and i saw that there was some threads about Build 12 etc... how do i check what build my version of PoTC is?

Sorry for being long winded. I was getting into the game somewhat... the battles and stuff are interesting, but the not getting anywhere was really annoying. :/

Hmm, in that case i think my copy is buggy. I've set the navigation keys to something else (cos my "A" key doesn't work properly) and though they work alright in Sea mode, they don't seem to have any effect whatsoever when i'm on the map.
 
u can check ur build version on starting screen (the one where u choose to start new game, load and so on).

but since u got ur copy yesterday, i suspect that u don't have any build- cm is a community mod and u should dload it from piratesahoy (check sticky topic in modding forum)

Try set'n yer keys to default,then remap them te yer like'n,probly fix ye yer problem mate <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

The references here on this site to various "Builds" are about modifications a lot of people have made for PotC. We've gathered them together and released them as additions to your stock PotC game.

The original stock game, which by your posts I'm inferring that you are playing (unmodded) is extremely buggy, and has quests that are broken and a lot of other problems... Having the Build installed is a great thing as it patches a lot of the bugs, and fixes the broken quests - and even gives you new quests to do and new ships and different ship skins - a tailor shop, a blacksmith, &tc... Some great stuff there...

You should try it - I think you will enjoy it!

For you in Malaysia, you need to get Build 11 first, and then install B12 over it.

My ISP is giving me hell these days... tried installing Build 12 earlier, but i got DCed halfway :/ Good thing i could rollback the changes. I'll try again later.

No need to. The build 12 installer can continue DLíng from the point at which it stopped before. In order to be able to play while downloading, maybe you should DL to a different directory first. I don´t know what happens if you start PotC with the build only half installed, but presumably nothing good and most likely nothing at all.
 
Anyway, i finally got to install the builds, and wow! The game was great, now it is awesome! The build truly increased my enjoyment in PotC.

I tried loading a saved game, thinking i could "initialise" it, but it didn't even load. The thing just crashed. But that's ok, i didn't mind starting over.

The only thing is that it hangs for a bit at the shipyard and the shop when i'm viewing my flagship, but as long as it doesn't crash is fine.

Oh, and the quick save function for some reason doesn't work. I just keep getting "bad saves" when i press that, but it's ok, i can save manually.

yes, u have tostart new game after installing builds.

hanging while shipyarding or selling at traders is typical - u have to get used, it'll hang even on p4 3ghz with 1gb of ram.... but, like u said, it's not a big problem:)

now about quicksave. i think that it has icon of bad save, but it isn't bad- i don't use qsave function tooften buti remember loading game from such 'bad save'
 
Quicksave functions doesn't werk at this point mates,an fer de hangup Zarith be correct,it takes time fer Initialization te calculate,so it be a standard hangup,could be longer fer some than others depend'n on yer computer specs. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
 
skull, u sure qsave doesn't work? i remember using it correctly and i don't remember i drank any rum that day <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dev.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":d:" border="0" alt="dev.gif" />

There was a "fast and dirty" fix made for Quicksave that will work for some, but maybe not for others - it wasn't a "FULL" fix, and a full fix is being worked upon.
