Long story short I captured a tier 5 sloop of war. I am in a bermuda sloop. I made the horrible mistake of forgetting to swap ships after capturing her, instead putting one of my officers in charge.
1. Tried ship transfer. Selected 'swap ships'. Nothing happened.
2. Tried berthing ship. Cant remove captain can only assign another.
3. Tried selling my ship. Sold my ship. STILL cannot gain ownership.
My officer is listed as 'privateer captain'.
Crew morale is awful on that ship, but I raise it when I dock.
What am I missing here? Do you only get one chance to swap ships? Yes my leadership is 6.

I loaded a previous save. Caught another damn Sloop of war. I was about to dock, but thought better of it after my recent crash at Krasjifgg sk ghai8h whatever on Bonaire. What happens? Twister, out of nowhere. Completely destroyed my damaged fleet.
I've never been closer to uninstalling a game lol. This game literally hates me. Cant switch captains, cant capture a new ship. Might as well become a landlubber. Lets see if third times the charm.
...it was. After one of the most fierce battles I've ever had, I took a Bermuda sloop up against an improved xebec and a sloop of war. Using my speed I lead them into a Dutch fleet. In the ensuing battle the xebec made a run for it. I kept up, launching grapeshot with all four of my cannons. I now own an Improved Xebec! Amazing how fast things can change. This time I made sure to swap captains BEFORE leaving the battle.
I'm still curious about swapping captains if you set an officer after the actual battle screen. July 28th version btw.
