How to omit certain ship models, certain npc models from the mod?

I want to omit certain ship models and certain npc models from the mod to avoid ships from the early 1500s and early 1700s appearing alongside each other. The same for npcs with the fashion of the early 1500s and early 1700s appearing alongside each other. Can anyone share any pointers for going about that?

In the absence of an answer from someone familiar with Maelstrom, I'll try to answer based on what I know about other versions of the pirate games.

In "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "City of Abandoned Ships", ships are defined in "PROGRAM\Ships\Ships_init.c". To remove a ship, either delete its definition, or for preference, comment it out so you can easily put it back if you change your mind.

Some of the NPC's are defined in the various files in "PROGRAM\Characters\init". There is one file for each island plus one or more for story characters. Look in each file for character definitions, and in particular, their 'ch.model' lines.
