How do i backup/where are my savegame files?

The reasonable place i expected to find the saves was is the folder called "SAVES", alas it was empty. The game when launched recognises and allows me to load my saves just fine but where they are saved i've no idea.

The game is 100% unmodified and installed in the usual place on C: drive.
Can anyone provide a location/method for backup?

Is that Windows 10?
I think I heard that one somehow puts the saves somewhere else.

Additionally, where is "the usual place on C: drive"?

By default, the game tries to install itself into "Program Files", which was fine in Windows XP but causes all sorts of issues in Windows 7, 8 or 10. Put it somewhere else, e.g. "C:\Games\Pirates of the Caribbean".

After a reinstall on another drive i was able to discover that the installation i did in the default location [C:\Program Files (x86)] actually put the saves in:

C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks
