How about a new Credits film for Build 14?

In the main menu, you can press the Credits button and see a credits list of all Akella people who worked on PotC. How about we replace that with a credits list of our own?
I think it'd be pretty cool to have some sort of parchment background with the names of the modders who worked on the Build mod appearing on there (either fade in/out or sliding) with some nice piratey music in the background (either some cool orchestral music, the PotC main theme or some silly pirate songs from Muppet Treasure Island).
How would one go about making such a movie though? I KNOW it is possible, but I don't know what programs can do it. Preferrably for free. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
 
no luck. i found louds of movie converters, but no makers except 'windows movie maker', which isn't exactly a professional movie making program.
 
I am now trying to see where Windows Movie Maker van get us. I seem to have managed a simple credits list already. Not bad, though could be much better.

Edit: Ok; I actually managed it. It's a bit of a low resolution and I haven't managed to put all names close together yet, but it's better than nothing. I tested it ingame and it does work.

that sounds like a good idea! and yes, movie maker is good enough to make new credits <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
 
I've made a quick test and this is what I came up with:

Maby when all the names has bin viewed, maby ther should come some Cool screenshots..

seems like an awful lot of black at the end. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> but as you said, it was made in five minutes.

i have that song, though my version isn't sung by the actual muppets. i used it for a sailing song in the game for a while. after hearing it five times in a row it drove me completely barmy! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
 
I actually wanted to add a different song (Professional Pirate), but I was uploading it at the time, so couldn't use it.
In any case we've proven it IS possible. Now we need to figure out how it can be improved. For example: I'd prefer a parchment background. And the names should be listed closer together.
 
Good stuff, Pieter! Shorten the space between names a bit and it should be good to go. (insert thumps up emoticon here^^)

The black could be replaces with a dark composite screen with multiple elements, and different screens for each group.
Coders background would be game code and compiler screens and such.
Modelers would show wire frame and partial skinned stuff.
Graphic artists would show some finished skin flats and applied.

Beta testers, now that would show someone smashing his head into the computer monitor.

Black is DULL! Originaly I had thought to have a nice parchment background or so instead.

Another thought would be to have the names on the right and then have screenshots of various stuff on the left. Plenty of possibilities in any case; provided somebody figures out how to do it. I don't think Windows Movie Maker can do much better than what I did, though it should be possible to make it at least a <i>bit</i> better. We might want to stay on the lookout for a better program in any case.

Woops. I got the songs messed up. I currently have "Sailing for Adventure" in the credits and I thought that quote of yours was from the song currently in the credits. I had actually wanted to put "Professional Pirate" in there instead, but I couldn't because that file was being uploaded at the time (find it <a href="http://pafiles.com/potc/Pieter%20Pirate%20Music/Muppet%20Treasure%20Island/" target="_blank">here</a>). Now that you remind me of the great lines in that song, I am convinced we <i>really</i> have to put "Professional Pirate" in the credits instead. That song is brilliant and actually really appropriate. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

I dunno. We could add them at the end of the credits.. Would be a nice excuse for making them longer and using more funny songs or cool pirate music. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
 
would make the credits really long though. but i think it would be nessesary to mention the guys from akella in it as well.
