Help with New Horizons main quest line

Hi, :gday

I'm hoping there is someone here able to help me with what seems like such I simple problem. :facepalm
Basically, its the part where you need to simply deliver the letter to the pirate chief, easy right? Well it's not when he automatically starts attacking you as soon as you enter his house along with all the other pirates in the pirate settlement :modding
I've tried a few things, none have been successful. Such as, travelling to the governor of Grand Turk and making my rep with the pirates neutral. I then tried making my characters reputation as high as possible which didn't help, so I then thought the pirates may not like my high rep so i became the terror of the high seas.
Which also didn't work.. :shrug

Anyone got any ideas?

Many thanks.

:ixi

You aren't going to like this. Not one little bit. :eek:k

This is your third or fourth trip to Nevis, isn't it? Did you do something to upset the locals during one of those other visits? Steal some goods, or kill some people? Those pirates are a close knit bunch, and they have a long memory. I make it a special point to not upset anyone on any of my visits there. Until after that letter gets delivered that is......:ixi

There might be other solutions, but that is mine.

Ahhh, I see what Ive done... I have had several previous visits to Nevis, but none of which i can remember ever upsetting the locals, however, I have captured ALOT of pirate ships before delivering the letter. some of the ships ive captured resulted in me speaking face to face with the captain, and when i choose the option 'ill cut you all down like pigs!' or something, the captain says all his pirate friends will hear about this and that theyre a very dangerous bunch...

Thanks for your help anyways, I'm going to play along with it a little longer I think, try and get back onto the pirates good side. if not, I guess ill have to start a new game :ixi

Oh, you can take all the pirate ships you want. No problem there. It's just the townfolk at Nevis and Turks that are touchy. Not being able to deliver that letter is a pain because it breaks the quest.
