help. aop . potch build 13

Landlubber
I played both POTC original version and AOP, and now I want to "sail " again.

I saw there's many comments about potc build 13. I would like to ask you , mates, which do you think is nicer between potc with build 13 and aop(original vers) ?

Thanks

That depends. AoP definitly has the better graphics, but it's fairly buggy. The Supermod improves things somewhat, but it still doesn't really save the game. Build 13 turns PotC into a pretty good game with many new features added. I think the main difference between the two is that modding for AoP is pretty much dead, while we're still developing PotC Build 14. Once that one's done, there can be no contest and PotC wins hands-down. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Thank you Pieter , very informative.

So, potc modded for the win ; should i put build 13 final ? or should i try with build 14 alpha 6? regarding the latter, the positives(added features) outweighs the negatives(possible bugs) ?

Thanks.

Build 13 Final I can definitly recommend. Build 14 Alpha 6 also seems to be pretty good. Actually, we're making good progress on Build 14 Alpha 9 at the moment and it's getting fairly playable again, unlike Alpha 7 and Alpha 8. You might want to play Build 13 Final for now and skip straight to Alpha 9 once it's released.

if you chose to use build 13, adding the Directsail mod on top is a must. you can sail to other island in 3D sailing mode with that, including loads of random encounters along the way. or it was included in the latest build 13 update, i'm not sure.

It's not included, but is available as an additional download. That version doesn't include Hook's latest fixes and finetuning though. It works, but it'll work better in Alpha 9. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
