oh man, i sure outsmarted the game this time round.

see that ship with black sails over there? that's the oiseau. attacking the fort. behind two english warships. the ship kapoof'd, and i had nothing to do with it! : turns out that fiddling around with your flags can get some funny stuff.

this has to be the most entertaining way to sink that ship ever.

i forgot to mention: i sailed out of port under the french flag, right past the hostile english in the port, not being shot at once. while doing so, i ordered the barque to attack one of the brits. then i sailed happily out of everyone's range, raised my own flag for me and the barque, watching chaos unfold.

you don't have to fight the enemy. just outrun your cannonfodder.

Haha, unlucky for the Oiseau!
I remember a time when that ship simply would not turn hostile upon reaching Barbados, so I spent lot of time trying to get her sunk in a similar way.
"You see that big 74-gun ship over there? Go get it. I'll wait here 'till you're done." :

it gets better: the english are still neutral to me. i should do this more often.
