FTP Cleanup

Is it just me or are both the PotC Files and Build FTP's a complete and utter mess?
How about we recategorize all files and remove those that have been properly included in the modpacks?
If you have any files on the FTP of your own, can you please clean up your own files?
I think it's best to give everybody the chance to clean up their own files before a moderator goes and mess things up.
Post here about those files you think we should keep.

While we're at it, how about we make a proper distinction between the FILES and BUILD FTP's?
Right now, they're both used for storage purposes and there's not really much of a difference.
However, I'd very much like to have a clear purpose for both FTP's to prevent confusion.
How about:

BUILD FTP:
- Official Build mod downloads and add-ons
- Storage of Build 14 Alpha WIP versions
- We could place HTML pages here so that www.piratesahoy.com/build becomes a real website
Problem: anybody has access and can mess things up. I think the Build FTP should NOT be available to everybody to upload files.
Everybody should be able to <i>download</i> from it, but only select members should be able to <i>upload</i>.

FILES FTP:
- Storage of personal mods that have yet to be included in the Build mod
- Files should be removed once they have made it into the Build mod or are available in an "official" add-on on the Build FTP

You're right in this matter. Currently, when I'm about to upload something it in fact doesn't matter which account I'd use. Both are messy. The solution you propose should indeed make order (at least for a while).

I thought Build www page is Pieter's Pirate Page?

My site indeed is the Build's website, but why should it be?
www.piratesahoy.net/build is a much easier address to remember than <a href="http://s31clan.com/privateftps/pietersmods" target="_blank">http://s31clan.com/privateftps/pietersmods</a> . <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

Also, as we're all very much aware, the Build mod is NOT my mod.
I just happen to have had a bit to do with it, but most work has been done and is being done by others.
So I'd like to grab any chance there is to NOT pretend it's my work. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

While we're at it, we should make a thread containing links to all members' FileFront accounts!

I know about the following:
Bartolomeu o Portugues: <a href="http://hosted.filefront.com/dasise" target="_blank">http://hosted.filefront.com/dasise</a>
Thomas the Terror: <a href="http://hosted.filefront.com/ThomastheTerror" target="_blank">http://hosted.filefront.com/ThomastheTerror</a>
Yo Ho Ho: <a href="http://hosted.filefront.com/yohoho" target="_blank">http://hosted.filefront.com/yohoho</a>
Razør: <a href="http://hosted.filefront.com/000razor00" target="_blank">http://hosted.filefront.com/000razor00</a>

Anyone know any others?

These links could be useful when the forum is out of service. Maybe more modders could have their files not just in Pirate ahoy but also in another place... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Indeed; we need to do some serious cleaning up and organizing on all accounts to make sure people can FIND what they're looking for, even when the site is down again.

Can people please FIRST remove their OWN files that they don't think are needed anymore?
I'd rather have people clean up themselves, because doing everything myself seems like rather a daunting task at the moment. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

These are things I've done after the Build13 Final release. I don't know what if any of it has been added to Build 14 but I also thought there was to be another Build 13 update which would also include these.

1. New sails: Red & Yellow, Red & Black, Blue & white.
2. Flying crew during explosions; uses both code (palka) and particle effects graphics.
3. Increase swimmer models from 1 to 4 models; new models and code changes.
4. New ship: Rum Runner "Schooner4_50"
5. New ship: Fast Barque "Barque3_50"
6. Map of Khael Roa Jungles ..... here I need to put an improved, aged version.
7. Progress icon: Spinning cursed coin during loading screens

So what should I pull down?

Thanks Petros! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

1. They're in Build 14 Alpha 8 and used as default on some ships, especially on your own.
2. Added with additional switch (or something like that).
3. Added.
4. Added.
5. Added.
6. Should still be added, especially now that we actually have ingame maps. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />
7. Added.

So I think pretty much all can be removed, unless you want to keep some of it for people wanting to install them seperately on Build 13.

Well there is the question. Will this work be added into Build 13 with the bug fixes and so still be needed for a while on the ftp?

Good point. Indeed I do think your work should be added to Build 13 Update 4 when we get to compiling that one. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />
