Flags for the master trainer countries. (work in progress)

Here is my flags im doing for the master trainer countries...

Just so you know, I already did a pack of flags for the countries in the game which can be found <a href="http://forum.piratesahoy.net/ftopic3762.php" target="_blank">ON THIS THREAD</a>.

I also made an Irish flag which is historically from the 17th century <img src="http://home.comcast.net/~mafab/Pirates/irish.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

I wasn't trying to steal your thunder, but you can grab that flag and add it to your mod if you want, I don't mind at all.

I wish I could help you out with China. My guess is that the Qing (Manchu)Dynasty might have used a yellow flag with a blue dragon on it. That seems to be the earliest thing I could find. Though I did see a merchant flag from as far back as 1861 which was green with a yellow X (like Scottland's but yellow on green instead of white on blue).

Though even a flag in 1861 is still 200 years too late to be of use as a historical flag in Pirates!

about the chinese flag.. i havent been able to find those you where talking about.

I got the fpk files unpacked.. i can now make the town flags and map flags.. all i need to do is find the right file/files..

You can have transparent areas on the town flags but NOT on the ship flags. I have tried every which way I can to do that but it refuses to show. It will show transparent on the selection page (where you pick your flag) but in the game you won't see the transparency, you'll see the whole rectangular area.

As for doing up the town flags, I'm going to have to bow out of that one. Each nationality has about 9 flags that need to be done, and most of them require hand artwork to make them look half decent. On top of that, if they're not packed in an FPK then you'll see them all in the ship flag selection screen. Sorry, but that's too much work for me right now. I found it a challenge to make the ones I did. Making stacks of new ones isn't something I want to do. hand drawing.. thats more tough.. i cant draw at all.. isn't it possible to have a template and then change the flags to fit...?

That's kind of what I do. You get into a pattern of doing things, sort of like an assembly line, but even then it's not like doing the ship flags, which is basically about taking a flag, making it square, resizing it, and saving it to a new file name. Doing the town, war, treaty, event, and map flags means editing out certain pixels, erasing this, adding that, rotating the images, lining stuff up, and the like. You're welcome to try it, but even knowing what needs done and being in the zone with it, it still probably takes half an hour to an hour to do one nation. Frankly I don't have the time to do anything of the sort right now. I sacrificed several evenings of play just to do the mods I already did.

By the way, feel free to use the ones I did so far in your trainer if you like. I just ask to get proper credit for them. They are spread around several threads unfortunately. Here they all are in one place for ease of reference.

The Dutch flag in the flag pack is a historical 17th century Dutch flag. The red replaced the orange later in the century, so either will work, but I thought the orange looked older as well as seeming more "Dutch".

As for putting one on the side of the ship, I'm not sure how that would work. You'll have to be content for now having a Dutch flag on the mainmast, along with an orange pennant, and orange gunwales.

Nice work!

Just a sugestion... The Portuguese flag should be vertically splited between light blue and white with the crown at the center (for the blue you may use the French one). Green is completely wrong.
