DIRECT SAILIN - BUILD 14

TiMEDANCE

Landlubber
1- Will the weather/day-night also change, if you sail in 3D from Island to Island ?
2- what about encounters with foreign ships?

...is that all just full function-able ??

yep, all works. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

press r on land or in 3D sailing and you get 3x, press g and you get 10x, press again to get 30x, press r to get normal speed again. at the world map, pressing r gives 2x speed.

many thanks for info!!!!!!!

I think I will only sail via 3d ....I need realisitc sailing!! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

<b>I also think that the moders could complete take out the sailing via small map! - I hate this! - it looks not realistic</b>

there are less patient users, you know. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

With this mod you have the choice to use the map or 3D sailing. If you don't want to use the map, just don't use it. But I am not going to take it out; many people WILL use it. Perhaps there will even be some people who want to occasionally sail from island to island in 3D and sometimes, when they're in a hurry, use the map instead, As long as the map isn't disabled, everybody can use the mod the way they like best.

BTW: If you use 30x sailing, your ship might end up spinning very fast and not getting anywhere. It is a bit hard to get the ship out of the spin again. First set the tim to 1x again, then wait or try to give counter rudder.

i've encoutered something odd: when i tried 3D sailing the rest of the journey to falaise de fleur, i didn't come any closer. even after several hours of sailing. i remained just outside the island boundaries

That is really odd ! So you were transfered to the FdF "cell" but the island never appeared? Or could you see but couldn't get closer? Have you tried to turn around and sail back to where you came from? And where did you come from?

Should that happen again, could you please press F12 and note the position coordinates that displays? And check some time later if they have changed? Thanks in advance <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I put some commands into the mod that log everything that happens in the compile.log (if you have that enabled) Do you have that file in your rootfolder? Then posting the last part of it should answer most of my questions.

i couldn't see the island. never. i was trying to enter it from the east. sorry mate, i don't have a compile log. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> i truly wish i had. i don't have one because of a problem and to fix it i had to do something that would likely do bad things to my game, but i don't remember what it was. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mellow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":|" border="0" alt="mellow.gif" />

Absolutely right <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

So you came from Antigua? I'll check that, thanks for reporting this <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

nonono, sorry! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:ops" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> i meant i was sailing TO the east, from oxbay. so i had to sail east to get there. it was close to one of the island tips. in fact, when i got back to the world map to check what was going on, in noticed i had drifted northward, because i was going east-north-east, to be precise. i had gone sideways because of my direction, but not forward.

Ah, then it is possible that were simply to far north to get to to FdF, and ended up in the long range hub cell with the "uncharted island Battle Rocks". And as this is supposed to simulate long range voyages you'd have to sail some time before you see land.

Pressing F12 helps navigating: it displays your position in relation to the next island.

Very useful info, as i didnt seem to arrive at Oxbay Island sailing from FDF earlier and didnt know about the F12 function to check my position - i probably went into that 'battle island' cell as well. loving it overall, its got great potential <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" />

When encountering ships, it says "Sail Ho" and then gives incorrect info on the sighting. Has anyone else experienced this? For instance, it said I sighted merchants of Britain vs. merchants of Britain (a fleet mutiny, I guess!), but the ships that appeared were 3 pirate ships. I also have had while at Douwesen, ships appear even when I am sitting in port with lots of neutral ships around me. I thought that the Sail Ho! wouldn't activate if neutral ships were around. Any ideas?

i found another problem: if you walk on your ship, the ship still keeps moving. this may be realistic, but very annoying, because i once ended up inside an island. i couldn't get out. the only way to get out of the island was by using sail to. it would be much more convenient to let the ship stop moving. it would stop the problem of ending up in an island as well.

Please post this on the <a href="http://swankyplace.com/potcbugs/view.php?id=331" target="_blank">DirectSail Bug Tracker issue</a>.

Hi all. I'm currently working on an update for this mod, and I'll take your feedback into account, thank you. (Though I'm still working with B13 as an update)

QUOTE(from bugtracker)
When leaving Oxbay using direct sail after completing the tutorial, the Oxbay French invasion movie is not shown. Only if going to the world map will it play.
UNQUOTE
Good catch! You are right, entering the map IS the trigger for the movie AND certain mainquest events. I'll add a warning that the map must be entered at least then.

QUOTE
I seem to still occationally run into Sail Ho! when there are neutral ships in the area, I was under the impression that neutral ships will cause additional ships not to appear.
UNQUOTE
The update will include a check for neutral ships within 1000 m

QUOTE
Also, when it says "sail ho", it also announces incorrect sightings. For instance, I was playing and is said that I spotted merchants of Britain vs. merchants of Britain (it must have been a mutiny! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />, but instead 3 pirate ships appeared.
UNQUOTE
The screen with the encounter details and the option to skip an encounter was added by Maximus. I won't add it to my update cause IMHO it doesn't fit into this mod. But I don't mind if someone makes it work for B14

QUOTE

UNQUOTE
You mean if you walk below decks? Haven't changed anything there. Is the "keep moving" effect connected to some Directsail event?
