Free walk on ship mod is working, except for one bug that is easily avoidable and one line of erroneous code. I'm going to make it compatible with Build 13 some time soon, I hope.
 
I thought I've stated that clear: I could take a role of modpack compiler in case there's no other candidate who would be able or willing to do so.

So many of these mods sound so cool! Thanks for all the hard work from all you modders, this game just keeps getting better and better!

One can go from one part of the ship to another through door. Not very big thing.

Actually, it is quite a big thing. Instead of using a menu to go to your cabin on the ship, you go through the door. And you can go to other parts of the ship without having to go to the deck in some places.

One of the things that impressed me most was when I started the tutorial on a small ship, which had the correct cabin for that ship and no room for sword training, and Malcolm walked through the door to the deck of the ship and my character followed. We did the sword training on the top deck of the ship, which was actually a boarding location type deck, not the normal deck, if I remember correctly. Then when Malcolm goes to shore, he walks to the side of the ship where the gang plank would be instead of just disappearing.

Trust me on this one. This is a really cool mod.

Hook: Is that mod available for looking at now? Or is it something that isn't released yet? I'd definitely be very interested in seeing that mod all by itself, so I could compare code changes to original files.

I've got it applied to a September 20 version of the code. I doubt if it would work in anything newer. And it probably has a few bugs. I didn't look at the code much, I just played with it to see what it did.

I'm hoping Pirate_kk will finish it for release. I really like it.

So has pirate_kk already uploaded it to the FTP site? Or is this something that has been shared out privately. I'm very interested in getting a look at this thing, sounds like quite a kick butt addition to everything thats already been done.

It is on the FTP in Pirate_KK's folder in the "future" subfolder. You need to use WinMerge on it though, because it's not compatible with Build 13. I tried to work on doing that yesterday, but no luck so far.
 
Check, Pieter. I'll have a look at it and fool about with it. Who knows, maybe I'll get lucky and break something right for a change. **smiles**

i noticed that there is an open door icon in the menu when you go near a door in your ship. (in the menu you get when you press enter/return) why's that? is it the remnants of an attempt to do this before?

If merge causes problems I can attempt do that for current version. Be warned though that it can take some time as I don't have as much as I had in summer... Anyway, I ask for confirmation if my assistance is needed or not?

One thing is for certain: All help is needed. At the moment we have you and Cap'n Drow as far as people who said they would be OK with becoming modpack compiler go. I'm not sure what the rest of the community thinks of this, but this is what I think: Ideally the two of you would work together, which would split the workload. Then you, who already have experience with the code, can help Cap'n Drow with it as well. Perhaps other people would want to help as well. I personally can't do much anymore. I am going to try to compile a couple of Build 14 Alpha modpacks before I leave in February, but don't count on much else from me.
