constant CTD

I'm constantly getting CTD when going from either the world map to "at sea" or "at sea" to the world map.
It just CTD and tells me it had to close but doesn't give me any details.

I'm running build 14 beta 1 w/ the patch.
I can play the game fine for long periods as long as I don't try to switch between at sea and the world map.

Any ideas?

I'm running windows vista home and I have the exe running in windows XP compatibility.

Ahoy Mr McNair, welcome aboard mate!

Are you running the game in the default installation folder in C:\Program Files\? If you are, that may be part of the problem, Vista's "security features" play havoc with this game if it is in the Program Files folder, try installing it to C:\Games\ or something. If this isn't your problem mate, try turning on error logging and post the files here. Those might help us track your problem down a bit easier.

To turn on error logging, change engine.ini as follows :

tracefilesoff = 0

debuginfo = 1
codefiles = 0
runtimelog = 1
