Fixed Character Skill Importances Missing

If you do, be sure to check the error.log file in your main game folder every time you close the game.
 
Ah there is the problem.
For some reason sometimes the officertype isn't set for these captains or its removed (because I do see they used to have a officertype). And now this doesn't catch it. So this explains why I didn't had this problem before.

I can't test this now but if someone could that would be nice.
I've changed this in the boarding file:

Please make a copy of LAi_boarding.c before you place this one in PROGRAM\Loc_ai because I have no idea if it will screw up things, but from what I see it should just work.

I installed this file. To confirm, to test I will:

1) Board ships until I have the option to hire a captain. Then hire him and look to see if anything is odd (anything in particular I should watch out for?).

2) Exit the game and check the error log, posting it here if there is anything.

Do I need to reproduce the test multiple times, or would any problem show up with a single time hiring a captain?
 
Results of test: I boarded a merchant ship, fought my way through. After the fights, I found myself in the Captain's cabin. There was noone there but me, and I couldn't seem to leave. Here is my error log file contents when I exited:

well i didn't have the same results as Tingyun Levis
my game crash when leaving the captain cabin at the beginning of the game when i replaced the file you gave with the original the game works fine and i have the latest wip
any ideas ??
 
The difference might be that I used my current current saved game rather than starting a new one, so I didn't play through the beginning of the game with the new file. I just installed, and went directly to boarding a ship from the worldmap (and then ran into the errors I posted)

Well, I just ran into an error latter--assuming a Captain was supposed to spawn in that cabin after boarding and that is why I couldn't leave (not sure how to understand the error log I posted, as I don't understand how anything works really, and I'm not even sure what is supposed to normally happen after boarding, I was just in an empty cabin with nothing to do besides open chests and no exit I could find). ;)

Okay thanks for testing. Please put back the backup of the old file, seems this fix isn't as easy as we hoped. I will look into it more later.

So some people are using the new captain generation now. Anyone noticed anything wrong with captains you use as officers?
No more missing importance errors in the errorlog right?
 
Levis, I didn't play with him much, but I did hire that English guard type captain that gave the dialog errors.

The dialog errors were the very last errors in the error log, so unless the importance errors take awhile to show up, he must not have had them.
 
well I'm pretty sure this is solved so I'm going to call this fixed :p.
