Where is the new bug tracker?
First of all, wonderful game! I can tell you guys have really been working on the bugs, expecially when you compare this one with alpha 8. Nonetheless, I have a few buggy-wugs. I will be honest; I havnt looked through all the other bug posts, as indeed I am sure many encompass what I have here. However, here are the ones ive experienced so far. Ive been playing the Original Nathaniel storyline on 14 alpha 9.5, with a few controls and settings tweaked but to any great extent. My graphics settings are high textures, 1024x768 32bit windowed on an nvid GF 6100 card and its installed on top of an build 13 full, installed as instructed.
And so, I am heartily sorry if any of these have already been reported; I understand how annoying that can be but these are the only ones ive found so far; which isn't bad for an alpha
Problem the first: Merchants you accept in the pub (or 'tavern' if you want to be American always want to be escorted to the island they are already on. I.e, greenford to greenford. Go to docks and the quest ends and you get money. Eaaasy money. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> Surely this isn't right?
Problem the second: Horrific lag on firing; worse than in alpha 8. Drops about 2 frames per cannon; so if you are broadsiding with lugger, the drop is about 8fps which, lets face it, isn't good if your average rate is 16-19fps, as indeed mine is. Nonetheless, the weirdest thing about this is that it does it regardless of my graphics settings; whether its 640x480 or 1280x1024, it still does it to the same extent. The faster the firing, the greater the fall. Muzzle flair seems to be the thing doing it, though build 13 was fine. (Though as I mentioned in the old bugtracker, this could just be my graphics card feeling tipsy. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> I highlight this problemo above all because it really does reduce enjoyment and become off-putting when playing the mod; especially if you have an ageing machine of 2 years or over, as indeed I do.
Problem the third: No town or port names on any island, just hash signs and 'stown' in middle.
Problem the fourth: English Barmaids have no texture; are grey 'ghosts'.
Problem the Fifth: Emblemed sails don't work with player vessel; all buildsettings options and advanced settings saying they should be.
Problem the Sixth: Certain doors don't open at all in Jack Sparrow quest. (though no doors necessary for completing missions seem to be affected; and they are only in certain towns, all of them the new ones like port au prince and cayman)
Problem the seventh: Complete game crash on sea from deck loading screen if lot of cargo is dealt with beforehand. (Would the midnight crash in b13 be linked with this?)
Problem the eighth: Complete Game freeze when governor tells you he has a ship he wants sunk on any island and any governor.
Problem the ninth: I visited a tailor but did not buy anything. Now, almost every single other person is the same as me (Nathaniel's brown outfit). Barmaids, landlords and other public servicemen seem to be the only ones disaffected.
Problem the tenth: Quest book doesn't' scroll down much; oxbay quest doesn't move at all.
Problem the eleventh: As much as I'm all for peace, no-one ever goes to war! It's a permanent peace between all factions! At the beginning it was like normal, but the all countries changed to peace and now there are no battles unless I start them! It's been 20 years now. In fact, now I think about it, this probably explains problem the eighth. l Surely this isn't right!
In summary, it looks like theres something wrong with my nations relations; they just seem 'frozen'; this may be causing quite a few of these other problems and if im the only one getting them then it must be how I installed as I don't recall having any prob with the relations before I installed 9.5 patch. As Pieter can vouch, I didn't exactly have a walk in a park downloading this thing.
