so the extraction of seadogs.c causes the bug? however, i just thought of something: nosie, are you using the random relations mod? with the adjustment of the relation indications, maybe turning it on causes that bug.

I still have a good working version of 14.6 on my 2nd computer and don't think I'll use that

yes, but i don't. and i can't install it again, or at least not without a lot of difficulty.

Engine Error forced me back again. I think the Install
Instructions for 14/6 are not correct on Pieter's Page,

I played a Lot wiith Build14A4 without any (no one) CTD or Engine.exe error.

I want try to figure out where Build14A6 cause Engine.exe (I suspect something in the direct sail but i'm still not sure).

it's not 14/6, i'ts 14/6 additional causing the Engine Error!
I'll have another go, but this time I'll use the Mod Enabler,
so it can be removed if something goes wrong! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

I haven't tried build 14 yet, but I'm betting that its

caused by random variations in the install sequences.

all the build 14 alpha's in correct order, stacking every new addition on top of the old game, applying fixes along the way. maybe it has something to do with installing a certain fix before installing a new b14a version?

I don't think that all these CTD and Engine errors are related with installation problem but with ton of news that are introduced from B14A4.

I will return to B14A4 and waiting for Maximum, CCC, Pirate_KK and other smart guys for a new ModPack that solve these bug.

I have the same setup with 14/6 only, going well!
Draw your conclusion from that!!!!!!
Ever since Pieter posted that "fix" I've been reporting stuff not working!
So, I would recommend not to use it 'till things have been sorted!

I don't know if this has been pointed out. I don't know if it has been fixed. But I will say it anyway, just in case. My companion ships won't attack the enemy, they just float around and get in the way, but don't fire a single shot.

It goes on top of 14/6!
Anyhow, this getting stuck on Deck, when capturing/fighting
the Enemy, it does not happen every time!? I have to go back to a save
and play over again. Very strange! Now, I wonder wether it has anything to do
with the ship in use at the time? I used the ketch and than a Lugger. My present
ship is a light Frigate. Except for the Lugger these ships have been put into
the game. Pieter is obviously under much stress lately
a ) new job
b ) hard to get to the internet
c ) trying to hold things together without duct tape

and the naming conventions for this product's mods make it almost required that there are typos involved.

If it works ontop of v6, then its one of these required typos.
 
well, it was partially my fault as well. because it was so big, i thought that it had build 13 included. i now noticed that it's actually SMALLER than build 13. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" /> now, where did i put all those tiny fixes? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

EDIT: hey, nosie, YOU said that it should be put over build 14a5!

Hello all,

I am running 14:6 (but not the additional file). Generally, things running OK regarding land exploration etc. Guadeloupe and Tortuga look great!

However, I have a problem I with the evil stormy start option. In most locations not a problem but at Falaise de Fleur I get a CTD when trying to get onto the small rowing boat that takes you back to shore. Did not happen at Oxbay or Devil's Island in other attempts, but the CTD did repeat at Falaise de Fleur. The error report had som possible reference"flags" in the error code, although i don't ever change any of the flags from the start interface.

I wondered if anbody had any ideas/solutions?
 
you mean you get a CTD when going from 3D sea view to land, right? i don't really understand how that could happen, as you are supposed to be immediatly transported on the island after you leave malcom. try sorting things out before going to sea first, like repairing your ship and such. after a day or so, i think that it might work without problems. i think that the game just needs to sort things out first.

however: i think i have heard of this before. maybe it really is a bug.

anyway, anyone remember where to find the boarding fix?
