Build 11 Crash help (new?)

Howler93

Landlubber
I've been thoroughly enjoying the build...until today, as I seem to have hit a major hurdle. :x I'm in Isla Muelle and every time I attempt to repair/sell my ship I crash to the desktop. So, I figure I'll go to some other port. Well...now I crash to the desktop when I enter Sea mode. I'm stuck on Muelle forever. I installed the Omega drivers for my Radeon 9700 Pro...and the game was crashing on startup. Now that's cleared up, but still stuck on Isla Muelle. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ib012.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cry" border="0" alt="ib012.gif" /> Any ideas? Do I need to reinstall everything? Thanks for any guidance you may be able to provide me with.

And good hunting to all ye who are sailing "`crash-free`"

Howler93,
Along with Skull's advice, I've been hearing that pressing "t" before you sail makes an adjustment to the program that helps to avoid CTD's. It might not hurt to hit "i" as well.

Also, could you please let me know what kind of ship you have and what level you are at, and what sailing skill you've got. I have this theory that sailing a higher level ship when you are just starting the game can cause a CTD, but it's only a theory.
The reason I came up with this theory is because the only time that I recall running into a similar situation was when I was trying to set off in a galleon and had a very low sailing skill and a low overall level. What lead me to come up with this theory was that I tried setting off to World map view from FdF two times and got a CTD both times. On the third try I ran into some Coastraiders and got into a big fight that boosted me up a couple of levels and then when I sailed away, no CTD. Like I said, it's a theory, but I recall you only recently started playing with Build 11, and if it can help you out and get back in the game, then I'll be glad.

Good luck! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

Well...let's see. I have a navigator officer who sails at level 8 right now. My personal sailing level is 1. And I'm still toolin' 'round in that ol' lugger. I am at level 5 overall now. I hope this helps somehow. Thanks again for the assistance. Truly a wonderfully supportive group of buccaneers here <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cheers.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="cheers.gif" />:

Going to try sailing again...wish me luck <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

Yeah, it's not the sailing level then. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mellow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":|" border="0" alt="mellow.gif" />

Hmmm...., I can't recall anything being more effective than the "t" key then. Let me know if that helps or not and if not we can do a few searches to see how other's have gotten around this.

Good Luck! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Well, it seems as though a complete reinstall and beginning a new game was the ticket. Seems fairly stable at the moment and I'm having a blast!
Thanks again for all the help! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pirate2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p:" border="0" alt="pirate2.gif" />

If you run into this again, please turn on `error-logging` so we can try to figure out what the crash was from the logs.
Thanks, and good luck for it _not_ reappearing! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

something i find with shipyards is that if i open the interface, close it and open it again, i avoid the ctd, whereas if i start a new game and sell my ship straight away i sometimes get the ctd. dunno why that might be...
