Solved /Bug - Promotion and building land

Okay, so I just started another save file. Did a tiny bit, and went and joined America. However, talking to him, I got a letter of marque, and could instantly be promoted 2-3 times to senior Lieutenant. Along with this I could build some land, however where exactly is the land supposed to be built, anywhere? And I didn't sink any of Americas hostiles aside a couple pirates, so was that a bug?

The land gives you only personal wealth per month, you can't enter it or build something (maybe we could do something here...) however, it is possible to build buildings, but that looks really weird so I recommend to avoid that.
sinking pirates gives you also points, so no bug

Where's a good spot to build a hideout?

I'd say Isla de la Muerte or the other small islands^^

Cozumel is a great place for a personal hide-out.

The idea with The Buccaneer is that you already helped out the USA before the storyline started to encourage you to play for the Americans in that story.
The land you get is just a number that will get you wealth and therefore fame.
