Nathan Kell seems to have left out his Blaze_NB.gm (Nathaniel Hawk without beard) skin file from all of his Pre Build 13 files, while it should be in there. Does anyone have the file?

I have Blaze_NB_A1 through _A3 (different armors). Is that what you're looking for ?
And if not, since they're reskins of the original Blaze (AFAIK), the gm file is not the problem - do you have the corresponding texture(s)?

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> Darn, I went looking through my files and disks but I couldn't find them...

Pieter, I mailed it to you.

EDIT: It got returned. Your hotmail address is not working ??

EDIT AGAIN: It's up on the ftp now (Blaze_NB.rar)

By "(different armors)" do you mean visable armour on the model or just a flag to say skin x has armour level y?

I've been wondering about the viability of cutting the breastplat/thigh guards from one model and attaching them to another model, like Nathan (MC Hammer trousers: just say NO).

Rod, do you model too? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/william.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":will" border="0" alt="william.gif" />

Sadly I am bereft of anything remotely resembling artistic or programming talent. It's just a thought that's been knocking around inside my head the last few days. I love the idea of a pirate strapping on an old spanish breastplate to protect (and distinguish) himself during boarding actions but can't bring myself to believe he'd put on the (ludicrous) full garb. It's something of a stylistic hold over from Warhammer 40,000, where the art often showed officers in fatigues and an ornate breastplate waving a sword about.

From my extremely limited knowledge of editing models I was thinking it might be possible to cut off the arms, legs and head from the armoured model, and the model to be modified, then reattach them as required. and do much the same with the textures.
But as I've never actually done any modelling/texturing I've no idea if it's doable in with the stuff in PoTC.

I might have a go at trying to learn how to do it at some point, but if anyone with, you know, actual talent wanted to try that'd be great. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Maybe I could remake the textures somehow. But I don't know how to assign a new texture to a .gm file. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Pieter, I have the textures, not sure where I got them, tho... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> Take a look in your textures directory - perhaps I wasn't seeing them before (in the GMViewer) because I did not have the .gm files and now I do? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

64Bl1.tga.tx

64Bl2.tga.tx

64Bl3.tga.tx

Aren't these the textures <i>with</i> armor? Because I do have the armored beardless Blaze models and textures. Just not the armor-less ones. And I reckon that one really should be in there.

Yes. I'm sorry, I got distracted and didn't finish the thought... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/oops3.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:ops2" border="0" alt="oops3.gif" />

You want the beardless Hawk without the armor, right? The skin is there. Just edit and rename one of the other Hawk .gm files to reflect that the beardless armorless skin should use it and you should be okay. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

I have it, just did what I suggested, and it shows now in the GMView.

Skin is <span style='color:red'>64Bl0.tga.tx</span>

He's basically the same, only without his beard. Soon, you'll be able to play as him. If I manage to get it to work here. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Well. I just tried to get the Blaze_NB.gm to work. What I did was open Blaze.gm in Notepad and change the filename for the texture to the one that I needed (64Bl0.tga.tx). When trying to load the model in PotC, my PC went nuts. So could anyone please make the Blaze_NB.gm file for me with the proper texture reference?
Thanks in advance.

Sure, Pieter, I'll send it to ya. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

(on the way)

Here are pics of the new skins:

Nathan didn't make any head .gm's so I made one up to show you the face. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Those are excellent. Pretty much exactly what I had pictured in my head. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Three questions:
1) How can I change the filename of the skin a model refers to?
2) Can somebody make the blacksmith6.gm use a different skin name, because it's interfering with another model I have here that wants to use the same skin name.
3) Can you please send me the head files too, Catalina? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> Pieter, I send off the head files - they're on their way.

To edit .gm files, you really should use a proper hex file editor instead of notepad. I use UltraEdit, which I love. <a href="http://www.ultraedit.com/" target="_blank">http://www.ultraedit.com/</a>

The file name you put in has to have the same number of letters as the filename you are replacing.

Any more or less changing will cause errors. You overwrite the file one letter at a time. And note that the texture file referenced to in the .gm file only shows as *.tga - not *.tga.tx ... Makes a difference.

This WIKI tutorial should help - <a href="http://robotsdontbleed.com/wacko/wakka.php?wakka=RetexturingTutorial&v=p70" target="_blank">http://robotsdontbleed.com/wacko/wakka.php...gTutorial&v=p70</a> Scroll down. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

That should also help you solve your problem with the blacksmith texture. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
