Need Help B14 issue

Hi everyone I downloaded and played through the original potc. Decided to try mods and started with the old new horizons, followed instructions best I could but in the b14 installation it says game not found please purchase 2003 potc from akell.

Its in the same pirates file folder as the og game engine and I haven't touched the tar zip file

I'm about as new to modding and pc gaming in general as could be so any help would be great. Love seeing an active community for a game I thought only I played 20 years ago. Yo ho its a pirate life for me

Where did you get the original PoTC? Is it the Akella/Bethseda one which starts with you talking to Malcolm Hatcher in your cabin? If I remember correctly, there was another, completely different game called "Pirates of the Caribbean" which won't work with the mod.

You don't need to put the mod files in the same place as the game. You do need to change the default installation folder, both for the original game and for the mod. Both want to install into "Program Files(x86)". Windows security does silly things there and although it shouldn't prevent the mod from installing, installing the game there will cause trouble even if you do get it apparently working. My own game installation is in "C:\Games\Pirates of the Caribbean" and the mod files are in "D:\PoTC\Build 14". Remember, though - if you put the original game somewhere other than the default, then watch for the mod asking where it is to be installed and make sure to point it to the correct place.
