Arrgh! I can't get the game to load.

I am sure I have done somthing wrong but, after doing a clean install on the game. Stock POTC, Build 13 final, Build Alpha 8, deleting the two files from the program folder and running the batch file I can get the game open and deal with the advanced optons but when I try to actually start the game, I get a black screen and nothing happens. I have trying to figure this out for a couple of days.

It is not my system. It is only about three months old and is loaded.

Can anyone help?

If you are doing things in that exact order, you are deleting the two directories late. Here are the steps

1) New Install

2) Build 13 Final

3) Delete resources/ini directory, delete resources/models/decks directory.

4) Build 14 A8

5) Reset controls

6) Play and test to your hearts content.

OK trying again, I installed the original game, installed build 13 final and deleted the files RESOURCE\INI and RESORCE\MODELS\Locations\decks then installed Build 14 Alpha 8 and ran runme.bat. I reset the controls to default selected an new game and when I hit strart game I got a black screen and no game.

I have done this three times now carefully with the same result. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well now I have more precise information. I can get the Bartolomeu quest to load, but all of the others go to the black screen. All seem to have characters present in the F2 screen. Should animation be on or off and would that affect this?
 
it seems an error that was already reported some times here....the modders know about it, dont worry, they will answer
 
May you not be missing the deletion of the Program/ Folder?

From the Installation instructions:

Although the installer was made with 7-Zip, you do not need that program to install.

To install, please follow these instructions:
1 - Install Build 13 Final (if you haven't done so already)
2 - Remove the PROGRAM, RESOURCE\INI and RESOURCE\MODELS\Locations\decks folders
3 - Extract the Build 14 Alpha 8 Full file on top of your game
4 - Allow it to overwrite all files it wants to
5 - After completion, run RunMe.bat
6 - Start the game and reset the controls to default in the Options menu
7 - Tweak the controls and the game's settings to your liking in the Options menu
8 - Start a new game, select a storyline and ENJOY! w00t.gif<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Aha, thats the directory I was forgetting about. You also do need to delete the entire programs directory. **smacks forehead**

Thats the missing step/deletion.

Hopefully follow the new set of instructions and that should fix you up right fine.

if he installed the Build 14 Alpha 8 right after the Build 13 Final, without checking if the B13 Final was working, then it is understandable that he forgot about this point.

The deletion of the PROGRAM folder is actually THE most important step in the process.
If you don't do that, there's a good chance the game will crash.
The correct installation instrucions are in my Build 14 Alpha 8 thread.

OK Guys,

I am embarassed. Pieter, I not only read your instructions I pinted them off but I installed four sepatate tiime looking directly at them. And I missed deleteing the program file every time. I know it says it right there. No excuse! I didn't read carefully and pay close attention to the punctuation.
