Are MOW's Overated?

I prefer MOWs than other ships but still I think that in some plases MOWs lack the speed and the manuverability.

Myself, I prefere a battleship as my main ship later in the game. A MOW makes a good second ship for carrying cargo. Keeping up the crew is expensive and MOW's use up there ammo real quick. Plus they can hit you or another friendly ship when firing on an enemy, which is very annoying.

I must admit that the MOW is addictive, but after awhile of playing you start to see it's flaws. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" />

At sea MOW's are good for cargo and defense of your main ship. To slow and difficult to maneuver to be really effective in a naval battle, almost like a land based fortification. However, MOW's are a excellent and aecessitity aganist land fortifications.

My favorite thing to do with a MOW is to use it as a secondary ship, and have my flagship be something VERY SMALL (like a lugger). Then go to a governor and ask for a Pirate Hunter mission. The mission you get will be to find a ship like your own lugger... But you switch from your lugger to your MOW, then pop over to the cove where the pirate is waiting and BLOW HIS SHIP TO PIECES IN ONE BROADSIDE! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

I like playing with the MOW's flaws. They make it interesting in a major battle (eg. 20 class 1 ships) but I mainly like them for blowing up the other forts with, then I sell it when Im at a high enough level and buy a smaller ship for their stats!

MOW is really big and powerful but sucks for chasing down other ships...
I dun really like MOW since its so powerful I never seem to have any opposition... Ide rather sail a fast corvette or somethin.

A battleship is far better for most people's playing style. I'd say take out the MOW from shops, but leave it as an unboardable opponent, except from Silehard's final MOW for taking down the BP.

MOW are ok, but I use it as a 3rd ship. The hammer.....I usually race ahead with my CorvetteMM(Bloodangel) and the Super Frigate(Ebonrose) with enough speed and firepower to confuse and break any formation the ships have <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel_pa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ixi" border="0" alt="duel_pa.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" /> , Then MOW(Draconiean) comes in and drops the hammer with a gunner with 10 cannon and 10 accuracy <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/boom.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":boom" border="0" alt="boom.gif" /> . Sometimes I don't even get ther fast enough to board. Now, The MOW is great back up, but for a main flagship I don't think so. To slow, if you ever have to bail out on a battle....you are not going to get away in a MOW.
