Hallo pirates
25 years ago I played Sid Meier's Pirates! on the Amiga. Great nights with the best game ever, the Amiga version was THE BETTER ONE by the way, once a pirate, always a pirate.
15 years later I remembered and started playing it again with the WinUAE emulator, then played Pirates Gold on the DosBox, that one was better in the PC version. Discovered the new Sid Meier's Pirates (2004) and enjoyed it, that was something for a sing and dance man endeed.
Then I started to wonder if there was more in pirate world and discovered Age of Pirates 2: City of Abandoned Ships. That was kind of a revelation for me. What a game. Later I discovered the Combined Mod 3.1.5 and Gentlemen of Fortune. And then the whole New Horizons POTC Build Mod world. That was as brilliant as GoF. But I have a sense for game history too and so I played Sea Dogs (fantastic sea battles already), Age of Sails 2, and the unmodded version of POTC and Uncharted Waters 2 too.
That's it then with pirate games, isn't it? Except of newer games like East India Company or Commander: Conquest of the Americas (my son likes them). One I want to try is Empire: Total War (already ordered).
But a real pearl, friends, is this one here, I paid the 6 $ and had a lot of fun:
